The Rotorua Tourism Industry Partnership (RTIP) is the voice for our local visitor economy, made by our locals, for our people.
RTIP is a forward thinking, Aotearoa New Zealand leadership collective that delivers strategies, advocates for regenerative tourism and drives inter-generational improvement.
Rotorua: The birthplace of Tourism
Rotorua is where manaakitanga flows through every adventure that our visitors experience
At the Rotorua Tourism Industry Partnership (RTIP), we’re more than just tourism and hospitality operators — we’re locals who live and breathe this place. Our backyard is a landscape shaped by culture and nature, and we’re proud to call it home. From the whānau who’ve walked these trails for generations to the passionate small, medium and large business owners alike welcoming manuhiri every day, our strength comes from the people who care deeply about Rotorua’s story, and its future.
We believe in manaakitanga — the deep-rooted value of hospitality and care for others — and we bring that care to everything we do. Whether it's showcasing our world-class attractions, championing sustainable practices, or standing up for the needs of our industry, our focus is on creating a thriving, authentic Rotorua for both locals and visitors. We’re united by a shared commitment to culture, community, and the land that makes Rotorua unlike anywhere else in the world.

RTIP MEMBERSHIP
BY INDUSTRY, FOR INDUSTRY
Advocacy is a powerful tool for protecting and growing our tourism industry. National organisations like NZ Māori Tourism and Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) do an incredible job representing us at a national level, but strong local advocacy is just as vital. Here in Rotorua, we face unique opportunities and challenges — from the balance between tourism growth and community wellbeing, to the protection of our natural and cultural taonga. That’s where RTIP comes in. We give Rotorua’s tourism voice weight where it counts — with council, government agencies, and industry leaders.
By becoming a member of RTIP, you’re not just signing up for a newsletter — you’re joining a collective that’s actively working to influence policy, attract investment, and secure the future of Rotorua as a world-class destination. Whether it’s pushing for fairer decisions on infrastructure funding, fighting for responsible use of visitor accommodation, or supporting local campaigns, we’re on the ground, listening to our industry, and standing up for what matters.
Together, we’re stronger. The more operators who join RTIP, the more united and representative our voice becomes. It means we can act faster, reach further, and keep tourism thriving in a way that reflects our values — manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, and whanaungatanga. Your membership helps shape the future of Rotorua tourism — not just for today, but for generations to come.
